Hey hey! We basically homeschool year round, but our summers are much shorter with being in maintenance mode. It's work that they can do in 30 minutes or less, but it keeps their brains fresh and not forgetting those pesky algebraic equations. We'll start this routine in June, so we have a few weeks off. We have a fun trip planned to kick off summer that has us all really excited. It was a big motivating factor in finishing the school year early.
*MATH*
We will be starting the next level in math. We started using the program Math-U-See last year because I felt like there have been so many gaps in our previous curriculum. Some concepts were disconcerting and never fully grasped. So, we started using Math-U-See as a tool to fully understand each concept. They are not grade level books, but rather conceptual understanding. We were able to finish two levels last year, so this summer I'm hoping to finish the last level before pre-algebra. We will be starting level Zeta, which is decimals, percents, and other concepts. Because they already have an understanding of these, some lessons will move faster than others. There are 30 lessons of A-G in each lesson, so I'm hoping we will be able to finish this book before we start our next school year. If not, we'll just continue and then move to the next book when we're ready.
*GRAMMAR*
We will continue our books, FixIt! Grammar. We started the book in January so I didn't plan for us to finish all of it. I planned enough lessons to continue it through summer until our next level.
*LITERATURE*
We're simply going to read books and complete literature studies. We'll do some written and some verbally.
*My Plans*
Read as many books that they'll be reading next year, that way I can create literature guides for them.
Create multiple history unit studies.
Figure out what we're going to use for science next year...or make a few unit studies for area of interests.

That's our plans for summer break. We're keeping it light to leave lots of room for things we want to do. The kids have a few camps they will attend. We have some fun projects around the house we want to complete. We have our garden to maintain. This summer will be a good one!
