In the Kitchen

This menu was inspired by the heat wave and not wanting to turn the oven on higher than 350.  It was a week of fun meals as we like to call them.   Plus I have a funny cooking story at the end.

We enjoyed BBQ pulled pork, corn, biscuit, and coleslaw

Crepes, fruit salad, and smoothie

BLTs with broccoli salad and a few puffs

So delicious!

The famous breakfast that takes attitudes away for hours, getting us through the school day with peace.

Steak and baked potatoes

For lunch we enjoyed leftover BBQ pork sandwiches (on dinner rolls) with coleslaw and corn.

Another lunch we had bagel pizzas.  This was the first time I made them for the kids and one kid loved them and the other was unsure of them.

We're all glad the heat wave is over and hopefully not returning this year.  Although, these easy meals will need to make a return to our menu when it does.

Funny story.  I made waffles one night and I typically put vanilla protein powder in them.  So I was preparing the batter and started making the waffles.  As the first one got done, it looked weird.  I thought, oh maybe I added too much protein.  So I kept making them.  As we sat down to eat them, chatter started about how they taste different.  The boys ate nearly half of theirs before I got a bite.  It was awful!  I spit it out so fast.  It was horrible.  Still trying to think of what the heck happened.  I couldn't think of anything other than I used too much protein.  As we were cleaning up the kitchen, Sterling asked me where the bread flour goes.  What?!  Bread flour, why's that out?  Oh, my dumb butt used that instead of pancake flour!  Welp, now we know.  And knowing is half the battle.  For reals.

Have a great day!
