2021 Recap

Oh man, did 2021 fly for you as well?!  It seemed to come to an end so quick.  As I tried reflecting on the year, all I could think of was how hard it was.  It was a hard year.  So much change happened.  As I was scrolling through my pictures, I could see all of the good, fun, and hard times that we endured.  It's funny how our perspective shifts when we choose to look for thankfulness.

January

We added a new smurf monkey to our family. She’s a fun one too. I’m her favorite person too 😊. Welcome Bella 🐢 🏑

We moved out of our NC home.  Put all the stuff in 3 storage garages.  A few days later we moved out of our apartment rental.  Moving twice in one month is really hard.

Xander won third place in his ninja warrior competition.

February

Our first trip of the year was to Jacksonville to tag along for Nicks work. We explored the zoo, beach, trampoline park and ate at Cheesecake Factory way too many times.  We even saw Nana and Papa.

March

Sterling turned 9.

Sterling had a dance recital.

Both kids leveled up in martial arts.

April

Xander turned 10.

We worked really hard in school to get caught up from missing so much school from all the moving.

We spent Easter with Nana and Papa in Florida.

Bella had eye surgery.  She runs into everything and ended up with a cherry eye.

Nick became a squadron commander.

My niece came to stay with us

May

Took our first SC beach trip of the year. Only made it three times, but it was fun each time.

We went strawberry picking for the first time.

Another dance recital for Sterling

We finished the hardest school year ever.  It was a mentally draining year where many times I wanted to throw the towel in.

I celebrated another birthday.

June

We celebrated the end of the school year with a carnival. Oh my gosh, so.much.fun!

We started bowling weekly for the kids bowl free program.  It was a fun weekly activity to break things up.

We started looking at land and dreaming about our future home

July

We had a special visitor.

We didn't do much this month.  It's HOT in SC, so we stayed indoors and played games and watched TV.

August

We finally saw my sister and her kiddos. It had been SO long. Since Oct 2018.  It was a long drive, but so worth it

We found our forever neighborhood.

We stayed inside some more.  Because, SC.

Started school earlier than planned because of being indoors and going bonkers.

September

We took a trip to VA and the kids did an outdoor adventure course for the first time.

Bought a new van.

Moved.  Again.

October

Nick's retirement date became official.

Halloween is always a highlight moment for the kids.

Signed the papers for our new home.

Took my niece back home.

November

We went camping. In our backyard. On a rainy and windy night. The tent blew away, but, it sure makes for a fun memoryπŸ˜‚

The kids have gotten really good in the kitchen.  Making cakes that rise πŸ˜‚

Sterling started long days of theatre.

Sterling fell and sprained her pinky finger.

December

We took a trip to Gatlinburg, TN. Such a pretty city at Christmas time and so many memories were made.

Sterling had her first play.  They performed 9 times.  She loved every minute of it.

I finished a book that was non-homeschool related.  I've missed reading for fun.

We went to the movies three times.  We watched Encanto, Clifford the Big Red Dog, and Sing 2.

Hello 2022

It's a blank 365 page book, let's see how many memories we can fill it up with.

Let's make it a good one!
