Weekend Fun

Hello!  We took Friday off from school, Nick had a five day weekend and we did something we've never done before!  It was fun and something that our weekends and free time may include more of.  We thought of going out of town and heading to the mountains for our long weekend, but we decided to stay home and came up with a list of things we wanted to do together.  Sometimes, family time is so good for the soul.  Like a reset.   A much needed reset for us.

Sterling and I had a girls day on Thursday and headed to Charlottesville for some shopping.  The best purchase was her "unpractical" heals as she calls them.  These $9 heals on clearance has brought so much joy to her.  She wears them around the house numerous times a day.  With the largest smile.

Friday morning, we woke up to snow

I enjoyed coffee with my new mug I found while shopping on Thursday.  I love it.  It makes me happy.

We also all went shopping for an activity that we planned for later that day.  But, it took much much longer to prep than we anticipated so we decided to go on Saturday.

Saturday.  It was finally activity day.  We went fishing!  We've never gone as a family before and the kids have mentioned it numerous of times since moving here so this weekend we planned it.  The snow didn't last long but it was windy and cold.  We stayed for two hours, mostly learning how to do all the basics.  It was so much fun!!

When we got back home, I received my two vac/mops that I wanted to compare.  I'm leaning towards keeping the Shark HydroVac.  I know the tineco combo is all the rage, but hold up...now that I'm looking at these pictures, they both may get returned.  I didn't want cordless...ugh.  I'm going to have to research this better.

Sunday I woke up feeling domesticated.  I made a few classes of mimosas.

Then I made banana bread but forgot the pictures.  I used this recipe and it was the best we've ever had.    And then while I was cleaning up, Ginger (our Bernese), got a chunk of it.  Surprisingly this was her first time snatching food from the counter.  Hopefully it doesn't happen again!

While I was enjoying some banana bread, I prepped some veggies for a few days.

Maybe having them already divided up will make them easier to eat?  Let's hope!

I also made a batch of homemade sandwich bread.  I used the recipe from her cookbook, but it's all the same.

The smell was delicious!

And so soft and yummy!

The kids played outside then had their baking challenge.

Sterling made a chocolate cake.  Without a recipe.  Against my recommendations, but that's how it usually goes.

Xander made brownie cups

He also made treats for the dogs

Which were very stinky, but the dogs loved!

Next up was dinner.  Nick assisted me in making Hashweh.  It's one of our favorite meals and only Xander doesn't love it.

Finally it was time to judge the dessert.

Well that was our weekend.  It was fun and we found a new family activity.  Today we are going to have school, cleaning, and chilling.

Thanks for stopping by.
Have a great day!
