'n all through the house, every creature was stirring with much excitement and anticipation. Too bad they lost sleep and awoke with a headache when two tiny reindeer arose with such a clatter.
Leading up to Christmas is always such a rush. Trying to squeeze everything in and making sure everyone has the best time the holiday has to offer. The memories make it worth the sleep deprivation, late nights, and headaches. But, thanks to coffee and chocolate, I survived.
In our Christmas Jammies'
We enjoyed our last day of school in our cozy jammies'
We all loved watching Abominable. We laughed so hard and so often! Have you seen it yet?
Blitz was tortured too many times during Elf visits.
The boys wrapped presents for me
Brittany thought it was a good idea to make roll out cookies. Guys, I never make roll out cookies. Never. I hate the process. But, we (Sterling and I) did it.
Xander loved this setup. Sometimes the simple ones were the winners.
I chopped my hair again! Over the past 6 months, I've been going shorter and shorter. On Monday, I finally went above the shoulders, where I've been wanting to go but was too nervous. I'm glad I did because I'm loving it! So, in the past 6 months, I've taken 8 inches off!
I even bought a new straightener. Merry Christmas to me!
I also wear this hat in the house a lot. Living with Scleroderma I freeze and putting on a hat seems to warm me up faster than anything. So, I may look silly walking around my house in a hat, but it's worth it to have feeling in my fingers and toes.
On Christmas Eve we had our North Pole breakfast. We couldn't have it on the 1st, like normal, because we were traveling. So, I'm not sure which day we'll do it in 2020. We keep it simple, yet fun and exciting.
This year I made a menu because I didn't want the cold items out before the kids were ready to eat. It was fun this way.
Every Christmas Eve, the kids get to open one present from each other. They look forward to this this most. We normally do it after dinner but they convinced me to change the time to after lunch so they'd have time to play with it.
We headed out to candlelight service
Have I mentioned how nice it is to have Nick back home? It really is the best.
After church service, I popped baked ziti, which I prepped before we left for church, in the oven.
Then we headed out to look at lights with the elves.
Kids went up to bed without any questions. It's so funny how that works!
I brined the turkey for Christmas day. This brine mix is the best!
Finally, at 11 pm, everything was set up and ready for the monsters to find
I'm so glad the elves went back to the North Pole. I didn't forget one day, but there were probably three days where the "oh shit" meter went off and I had to make a dash to move them before kids started waking up.
Did the Christmas season treat you well?
