After having panic attacks when wearing the medical face mask, I decided to try to make our own. A few weeks ago, I found Erica's tutorial on YouTube so we gathered our supplies and started making masks.
Sterling was my helper.
We made one for Xander, Sterling and myself. I didn't have manly enough of fabric to make Nick one, ha!
Xander likes wearing his mask because when he sneezes he doesn't have to cover his nose, haha!
Sterling was the first to try hers out. She wanted to go to the grocery store with me and since she had a mask, I figured she'd be fine.
Over the weekend, I made Nick one. I found a new pattern, and decided to make myself a new one as well.
I made mine first because I didn't have extra fabric to make Nick's. Good thing I did because the large pattern was too small (what I made mine out of). I ended up making his about 2 inches larger all around. He likes it and he can wear it with his uniform. So much better than what he was given. When he left for work he'd look like he was going into the tundra with his neck scarf on. Now, he'll just look like everyone else. Have you made your own mask?
I love this one so much more.
Since making my own mask, I haven't had a panic attack and it feels normal. Sad to say that wearing a mask in public is normal, but it is.
I'm torn on wearing masks. I'll wear my masks when it's required, but I'm also at the point where I feel like keeping a mask on whenever I'm around people will weaken my immune system. The kids and I haven't been sick since pulling them out of public school 2 years ago. We've had the common cold and seasonal allergies, but nothing else. We've been blessed and I'm hoping we don't have to start over and building our immune systems back up later this year.
