Lately May and June edition

We're just going to jump in and start documenting our summer, which officially began on May 7th.  I've actually had the pictures in this post sitting here waiting for me to add context.  If you'd ask my kids what I do, they'd say I'm busy.  Boy, am I!  It has been one busy summer and although we've already started our new school year, my busyness is not over.  I don't see an end.  But, I'm learning to slow down on the projects and shift my focus.

We decided to test the kids with standardized testing at the end of last school year.  With us switching things up I wanted to see if we were still on track or if we needed to shift things around.

Xander had a few lessons to finish up when testing was done, so he could enjoy summer break.

To kick off summer, we went to Kings Dominion

Then I got started on the projects.  First up was putting blinds up.  I saved $10,000 doing it myself.  And it was not difficult.

Sterling made homemade popsicles.

We've been swimming since the end of April and loving having a pool

The dogs were upgraded to a nicer kennel...although last week monster Ginger bent two of her bars.  So, she's back in the metal kennel for now.  We're trying to figure out how we want to repair her door.

We moved the school room upstairs to an empty bedroom.  We're loving having the trees and pool as our view instead of the street.

I started making an Algebra 1 course.  I could not figure out which curriculum I wanted to buy, so I thought I'll just make my own.  In July, I decided we're not using it.

We also discovered a pesky groundhog visiting our yard

I turned 45

At the beginning of June, we went to Busch Gardens.  We wanted to go later this summer, but it's miserably hot later in the summer.  We were glad we went early in summer.  The kids loved it and I was happy Nick came along.

Car rides with ALL the dogs is not common.  Ginger usually stays home because she's so big.  This has been the summer of her getting out and she's loving it.  Even car washes!

I'm so sick and tired of my backyard (except for the pool and patio, ha!)

At the end of June, Lulu turned 7.  We gave her a cake like we did for Ginger's birthday and it took her forever to eat it.  All her favorite foods.

Sterling got to visit her favorite store

Now that I finally have this posted, I can start working on July since August is already knocking at my door.

Hope you're having a wonderful summer!
